Club de golf Orléans
Sainte-PétronilleThe history of the Orléans Golf Club is inextricably linked to the history of the Dunn family. It was on the estate of this large, authentically Québécois, English-speaking family, established on Île d’Orléans and in Quebec City for over six generations, that the first three holes of what was the first golf course in North America were laid out in 1868.
The story begins on a beautiful Sunday in July 1868. The first golfers carried bags slung over their shoulders, containing five or six clubs, a few small white balls, and tees. They took the path leading from the main road and ventured onto a trail carved into the hardwood forest. This led them to the golf course laid out by the owner.
Today, the Orléans Golf Club bears witness to this rich history. Its historic 9-hole course is more popular than ever. It is this heritage that we, and thousands of visitors, appreciate and admire each time we visit the village of Sainte-Pétronille on Île d’Orléans.
Less than 20 minutes from Old Quebec, it is a source of pride for residents and golfers who have the privilege of frequenting it.
