The Constellations of \u00cele d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans holds a thousand stories: secrets, natural treasures, sailors’ tales, embroidered houses, poignant memories, joyful encounters, artistic inspiration, and legends of sorcerers. What if these stories were told to you during a stroll along the waterfront?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the interpretive panels focusing on history and heritage, the LITTORAL app offers a more intimate narrative, raising awareness of the island through the eyes and hearts of its inhabitants. The trails become a pretext for sharing a multitude of stories and anecdotes about the beauty of everyday life and the intrinsic poetry of \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interpretative walking trails<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The route’s layout on a map strongly resembles constellations, with various landmarks, viewpoints, and points of interest forming loops and back-and-forth segments. This is what inspired the project’s unifying concept. Constellations are timeless and form a network of interconnected systems. They become the guiding thread that evokes insularity. They are lights of the past, contemplated in our present. Constellations also serve as navigational landmarks, one of the founding elements of \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, the island becomes like a mirror of the sky with its own stories, its own constellations, its relationship to the river that surrounds it, itself a mirror of the sky. You will explore a second sky, a unique sky dotted with testimonies, lighthearted stories, and singular personalities that have shaped \u00cele d’Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MRC of L\u2019\u00cele-d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans initiated this project to enhance the coastline, in collaboration with municipalities, residents who contributed to the interpretive content, and tourism businesses. Watch the steps that led to the realization of the project.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following firms contributed to the various phases of the project: Nature Qu\u00e9bec, Cultura, Hybride Paysage, and the Escargo Collective with museum curator Genevi\u00e8ve Murray, the Laboratory for Ethnological and Multimedia Research (LEEM) at Universit\u00e9 Laval, Iscan, and Altkey. The project’s financial partners are the Ministry of Culture and Communications, the Ministry of Tourism, Paysages Capitale-Nationale, Destination Qu\u00e9bec Cit\u00e9, and the MRC de L\u2019\u00cele-d\u2019Orl\u00e9ans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
